Chinchorro Colombian Indigenous XXXL

Combining cultural heritage and authentic craftsmanship, this unique model embodies the rich traditions of the Wayúu people. Exceptional comfort, exquisite traditional designs, and ethical manufacturing. Discover the essence of Colombia in each thread. Production time: 4 months.

For the Wayùu, weaving a hammock, like the Wayúu4 hammock, means showing life as they feel it through their creativity, intelligence and wisdom.

The central part of the Wayùu hammock (hammock body) is woven in double thickness using a weaving technique called "Keiñasü" (chain). All this is done by hand, thread by thread, on a traditional Wayùu vertical loom. This technique results in a very resistant and airy weave.

The two side fringes are made with the crochet technique. They bear a sublime traditional Wayùu design called "Kuliitchiyaa", inspired by the shapes observed in the roofs of Wayùu houses in La Guajira.

These types of Wayùu hammocks, called chinchorro in Venezuela and Colombia, are the most prestigious found today, due to their great workmanship and quality. Very durable and comfortable, it is a rare object for unique decoration and moments of relaxation. Thousands of women from the deserts of La Guajira weave the patterns they dream of, making the best hammocks in the world.

This Wayúu4 hammock has a story to tell, and we invite you to be part of it! To find out more about weaving Wayuu hammocks: Weaving Wayuu hammocks: drawings and symbols

The mystery of the hammock

A study conducted by the University of Geneva in Switzerland, dating from 2011 , reveals that the swinging movement of the hammock helps us fall asleep faster and deeper than in a bed. This practice is not new, however, since throughout time, man has rocked his children to put them to sleep. Although we all notice how easily we sleep in a rocking chair or in a car, and despite our knowledge of these effects, no precise neuroscientific explanation has been found to date. This mystery continues to arouse scientific curiosity
